4 Reasons for Using LED Video Walls in Churches

4 reasons for using LED video walls in churches

LED video walls are gradually being used in churches, and the clergy can improve their preaching effects by installing LED video walls in churches. These video walls allow church pastors to share customized videos, images, and text content so people can watch Christian history and understand choir worship lyrics.

In traditional old-fashioned churches, although many Protestants are very devout, because of their unfamiliarity with the content of the church, it is difficult for them to integrate into the content preached by the pastor in the early days. Nowadays, the emergence of LED video walls spreads various types of multimedia content in a way that people are willing to accept. The bright colors and clear pictures make the church activities and preaching achieve an incomparable effect.

Is the LED video wall really accepted by many churches for these reasons? I’m afraid the real reason is not limited to this, we try to analyze this problem from other angles.

1. The cost of an LED video wall

Before LED video walls have been applied to churches on a large scale, traditional churches will use projectors to display multimedia content. Although the initial purchase cost of the projector is not high, with the continuous use, the service life of the projector will gradually decrease. Moreover, the equipment failure rate of the projector is much higher than that of the LED video wall, which leads to the frequent replacement of the relevant accessories of the projector in the later period of use, and these accessories are often expensive.

The initial purchase cost of an LED video wall will be 17-22.5% higher than that of a projector, but it can work modularly, and even if a single module fails and needs to be replaced, the maintenance cost is much less. In addition, the working stability of the LED video wall also extends its service life to a certain extent. Compared with the projector, the current cost of the LED video wall is much lower.

In addition, the issue of energy consumption is also an aspect that attracts attention. The traditional projector needs self-illumination to spread multimedia content, and the light source bulb it uses consumes a lot of power. The LED video wall does not require a lot of power when in use, and only needs normal voltage to drive the lamp beads on the LED display to light up. According to the statistics of authoritative experts, the energy consumption of LED video wall is 40~50% less than that of projector. That is to say, the difference in the initial purchase of LED video walls can also be flattened in 1-2 years through energy savings.

2. More color and content performance

We all know that the display effect of the projector is often affected by the external care conditions. If the outside or indoor light is too bright, the display effect of the projector’s screen content will be worse. The working principle of LED video wall is completely different from that of projector. It uses the principle of self-illumination of LED display lamp beads. The brightness of LED displays is measured in nits, and the brightness of projectors is measured in lux. 1 nit is approximately equal to 3.426 lux. The brightness of the LED video wall can usually reach 300~800 nits, and the display effect is much better than that of the projector.

The indoor lighting conditions of the church are not always stable, but the clergy wants to have a better multimedia presentation. This puts forward higher requirements for the delivery of multimedia content. The LED display has 16-bit color depth processing and high gray level, which can perfectly present the playback effect of multimedia content in a dark environment. The contrast ratio of some small-pitch LED video walls can reach 6000:1, which allows the video or picture content with little difference in color to be displayed to the audience more clearly. This is completely impossible for projectors, because its contrast ratio can only reach 2000:1.

3. longer service life

There are 2 ways to calculate the service life of the projector, one is the hours of total service life, and the other is the number of times the light bulb of the light bulb projector is turned on. Under normal circumstances, the service life of the projector is between 3-5 years. If the light bulb of the projector is damaged due to the long use time, the overall service life will be reduced.

The service life of an LED video wall is usually more than 10 years. Generally, the manufacturer will set the service life of the lamp beads to 100,000 hours. Unless some extremely special environments, such as outdoor LED displays by the sea or tropical countries with long-term high temperature and humidity, normally used LED displays, especially in relatively stable indoor external environments, the service life of LED video walls will exceed 10 years.

4. The use environment of LED video wall is more abundant

When the projector is working, it needs a screen or a complete white wall. When encountering a church with a circular design or other special circumstances, multimedia content delivery cannot be performed well. LED video walls can use a variety of different processes, especially the successful application of flexible LED display technology, creating more usage scenarios for LED video walls.

The flexible LED display adopts a multi-module design, which can be divided into several small pieces for installation according to special church usage scenarios. Curved or opposite-sex installations are not uncommon in our successful projects. Even we can install the flexible LED display on the dome of the church, so that it can dynamically display the scenes of heaven depicted in the Bible.

Galaxyav is committed to the design and manufacture of LED display equipment, and has completed numerous successful LED display application projects in the past 20 years.
